Pepe Botella, the found and soul of the bridal fashion

PEPE BOTELLA

Forty-two years have gone by since Alicante designer Pepe
Botella opened his first shop in the city where he was born.
Since that time, his constant search for new designs and new
fabrics has influenced his every step. Innovation as value, haute
couture as his guiding light, inflexibility as the enemy and the
reflection of brides’ hopes and excitements as an obsession,
have all been the foundations on which the designer has built
up his business and career since the very beginning.
After starting out at his in-laws’ tailor’s shop, increasing his
knowledge and skills at the Felicidad Duce Higher School
of Design and Fashion in Barcelona, soaking up talent and
creativity during his extensive travels to bridal fashion trade
fairs throughout the world and designing and working directly
with the public from his shop in Alicante... Pepe Botella finally
took the leap to produce the brand that bears his name. 1980
was the year in which the designs signed by their creator were
launched on the market.
A lover of movement and fluidity above all else and highly
opposed to rigidity in designs, frills, ruffles and lace have been
the fetish of this designer throughout his career. He was one
of the very first designers to include colour in bridal fashion,
to create shape-hugging gowns and transparent light layers...
these are undoubtedly what he knows how to do best, creating
these whimsical layers over more traditional white bridal
gowns, stitching together tradition and innovation in the same
stunning gowns.
A brand that has been chosen by brides around the world and is
one of the top international brands in this sector. But, above all,
Pepe Botella has brought his love of fashion to stitching and
weaving all the emotions into his designs one by one that are
reflected in brides’ eyes on the day she says ‘I do’.

Lucia Botella Designer of Pepe Botella Bridal dresses / Brautkleider

 LUCIA BOTELLA

Lucía was saying brocade and chantilly before she couldwalk. Daughter of Pepe Botella, the founder and soul ofthe bridal fashion firm which bears his name, Lucía Botella grew up in the midst of veils, tulle and silk, waiting to shape and transform them herself as she observed her father at his never-ending, painstaking work.Apprentice in the small, Alicante-based workshop where Pepe Botella reinterpreted the tendencies and influences hehad observed on his continuous travels around the world, Lucía, at the age of just 14, discovered the perfect medium through which to channel her creativity. Designing wedding dresses provided her… provides her with an outlet for expression and freedom. Through these dresses, she could… can dispense dreams and emotions. Her first solo collection in 2000 revealed Lucía’s true talent. Since then, she has drawn inspiration from a wide range of sources… the fragility and etherealness of bubbles, the glamour and sophistication of the goddesses of the silver screen from 1950’s America, the mastery of haute couture, the perfection and subtlety of the four seasons, the passion and mystery of female voices on the stage… Lucía Botellacan transform any image, sound or aroma into designs with, as she herself says, personality, sensitivity and character.A lover of shades of ivory and natural silk, she does not hesitate when it comes to innovating her designs, part of her constant quest for the perfect expression of the authenticand the feminine, theessence of each of her garments.
